UFAS is a labor union democratically organized to represent its members--academic staff and faculty at both the UW-Madison and UW-Extension.

What you may not know is that despite the lack of collective bargaining rights in Wisconsin, UFAS is an important voice for working professionals on campus. In the past year, working with our colleagues on other UW System campuses that are members of The University of Wisconsin Professionals (TAUWP), we have made several important contributions to improving the working conditions for all workers on campus. Included in these are:
- Introduction of legislation to gain collective bargaining rights
- Forcing changes to poorly-conceived sick leave rules
- Slowing down the rush to change UWS 7 discipline rules, and advocating for the preservation of both due process and just cause principles
In addition to these major initiatives, UFAS has advocated for several members in discipline cases, helping to make sure the University plays by the rules and does right by its hard working employees. How will be even more successful? Through YOUR participation and support as a member!
