2018 AFT-Wisconsin Scholarship Winners, Jeffrey Krueger and Joseph Jasper!

Every year, we offer one $500 technical college scholarship and one $1,000 university scholarship to children and grandchildren of current or retired AFTW members. The Scholarship Committee would like to congratulate this year's winners!

Our technical college scholarship recipient is Jeffrey Krueger from West Salem High School in West Salem, Wisconsin.  He plans to attend the Western Technical College in LaCrosse to study electromechanical technology to become a train engineer.  Jeffrey is a high honor roll student, a member of the cross country and track teams, and member of jazz band, DECA, and quiz bowl.  He works at Festival Foods as a cashier and stocker.  In addition, he volunteers at a local food bank.  His mother is a member of Local 3605, the Western Technical College Federation of Employees.

Our university scholarship recipient is Joseph Jasper.  He attends Chippewa Falls Senior High School where he will graduate with a 3.95 grade point average.  He is a member of the National Honor Society, junior and senior mentor, and a Badger Boy's State nominee.  He is in marching and pep bands and a member of the tennis, cross country, and soccer teams.  His work experience includes working at Chippewa Falls Parks Recreation and Forestry as a youth tennis instructor, lifeguard, swim instructor, and soccer referee.  At the Chippewa Falls YMCA, he is a lifeguard and swim instructor.  Joseph plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison or Eau Claire to obtain a degree in nuclear engineering or history education.  His goal is to become a nuclear engineer in the Navy.  His mother is a member of Local 1907, the Chippewa Falls Federation of Teachers.
